At a Glance

PairRush collects only what is necessary to run the game and provide a competitive experience. We do not sell your personal data, and we never collect any personal data from your device without your explicit permission. We do not use any data for fraudulent purposes. We use Firebase (Google) services for authentication, cloud storage, and analytics.

1. Introduction

PairRush ("we", "our", or "us") is a fast-paced memory puzzle game available on Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the PairRush mobile application ("App").

By downloading or using PairRush, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App and discontinue use.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide and improve the PairRush experience:

2.1 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Contacts or address book
  • Photos or media files
  • Financial or payment card data (in-app purchases are processed entirely by Google Play Billing)
  • Any device data not explicitly listed above — we do not access, read, or collect data from your device without your explicit permission

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Core Game Functionality

  • Authenticate your identity via OTP phone-number sign-in (Firebase Authentication).
  • Store and retrieve your best time, game history, and display name.
  • Maintain and update the global Top 10 leaderboard.
  • Enable cross-device synchronisation via Cloud Firestore.

3.2 Analytics & Improvement

  • Measure gameplay engagement, session length, and funnel drop-off using Firebase Analytics.
  • Identify crash-prone devices or OS versions for targeted bug fixes.
  • Analyse feature adoption to guide future development roadmap decisions.

3.3 Communications (Post-Launch)

  • Send optional push notifications for daily challenges via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
  • Notify users of significant updates or critical service changes.

You may opt out of push notifications at any time through your device's system settings.

3.4 Legal & Safety

  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and Google Play platform policies.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity or cheating on the leaderboard.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

5.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We use Firebase (operated by Google LLC) as our core backend infrastructure. The following Firebase services process your data:

  • Firebase Authentication — Phone number OTP sign-in and UID management.
  • Cloud Firestore — Real-time NoSQL database for game records and leaderboard storage.
  • Firebase Analytics — Aggregated event tracking for gameplay and retention analysis.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — Push notification delivery (Phase 4, post-launch).

5.2 In-App Purchases

Power-up purchases (Phase 4) are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. PairRush does not receive, store, or process your payment card details. Please refer to Google’s privacy policy for details on payment data handling.

5.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of PairRush, our users, or others.

5.4 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, user data may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will provide notice prior to such a transfer and your data will remain subject to this Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy:

7. Data Security

  • All data transmitted between the App and Firebase is encrypted in transit using TLS (HTTPS).
  • Cloud Firestore data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 by Google.
  • Firebase Authentication OTP codes are time-limited and single-use.
  • Firestore Security Rules restrict read/write access to authenticated users’ own data only.
  • The global leaderboard collection is write-protected; updates are performed server-side only.

While we take security seriously, no system is completely immune to breach. We encourage you to protect your device with a PIN, biometric lock, or passcode.

9. Your Privacy Rights

9.1 All Users

  • Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — Update your display name in-app via the Settings screen at any time.
  • Opt-Out of Notifications — Disable push notifications in your device’s system settings.

9.2 EEA / UK / Swiss Users (GDPR Rights)

  • Right to Data Portability — Receive your game data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to Restrict Processing — Ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to Object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint — Contact your national Data Protection Authority (DPA).

9.3 California Users (CCPA / CPRA)

  • Right to Know — Request disclosure of categories of personal information collected and how it is used.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
  • Do Not Sell or Share — We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

10. Offline Use and Data Synchronisation

PairRush supports offline gameplay using Firestore’s offline persistence. When you play without an internet connection:

  • Game records are written to your device’s local cache first.
  • Data is automatically synchronised to Cloud Firestore when connectivity is restored.
  • The leaderboard displays the last cached snapshot and may not reflect real-time rankings.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may display links to Google Play or other third-party services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third parties you interact with.

12. International Data Transfers

PairRush uses Firebase, which may process and store data on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Google LLC participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for international transfers where required.

By using PairRush, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in countries outside your jurisdiction, including countries that may have different data protection laws than your home country.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons.

When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document.
  • Display an in-app notification or prompt on the next app launch.
  • Post the updated policy at the URL referenced in the Google Play listing.

Your continued use of PairRush after the effective date of an updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

14. Google Play Store Disclosure

In compliance with Google Play’s Data Safety section requirements, PairRush declares:

  • Data collected: Phone number, User ID, gameplay history, app performance data.
  • Data shared with third parties: Firebase / Google LLC (see Section 5.1).
  • Data encrypted in transit: Yes.
  • Data used for fraudulent purposes: No — collected data is used solely to operate the game, maintain the leaderboard, and improve app performance.
  • Data collected without user permission: No — all data collection requires explicit user consent or is a direct result of user-initiated actions within the App.
